About Overview AI

Every manufacturer faces the same challenge: catching defects in real-time across thousands of production steps, millions of parts, and unforgiving quality targets.

Traditional quality systems can't keep pace. Manual inspection is slow and inconsistent. Statistical sampling leaves critical defects undetected. Vision systems require months of training data and break with every product change.

We built Overview AI to solve this. Our AI-powered vision system catches every defect, learns continuously, and adapts to any product in hours — not months.

Recognition

Co-Founders Russell Nibbelink, Austin Appel, and Xiaoyang Kao were named to Forbes 30 Under 30 — Manufacturing & Industry for building Overview AI's automated quality inspection systems.

Built by Manufacturing Leaders

Our founders spent years scaling production systems at Tesla, managing thousands of daily defects across body assembly, battery production, and final vehicle inspection. They faced the same impossible choice every manufacturer faces: inspect everything manually and slow down the line, or use statistical sampling and ship defects to customers.

They tried every solution on the market. Traditional machine vision required perfect lighting and broke with every product change. Early AI systems needed months of training data. Nothing could keep pace with rapid iteration and the relentless demands of high-volume manufacturing.

So they built the system they wished they had: AI-powered inspection that works in hours, not months. Fast to deploy, adaptable to any product, and embedded with the manufacturing discipline of first principles thinking, rapid iteration, and zero-compromise quality.

The Overview Way

These four pillars define how we work, how we grow, and how we win together

01

Attitude in the Face of Adversity

Manufacturing is hard. Building AI that works in chaotic factory environments is harder. We stay resilient, optimistic, and solution-focused when challenges arise — because that's when the best teams shine.

02

Commitment to Excellence

Good enough isn't good enough. We hold ourselves to the highest standards in everything we do — from the code we write to the customers we serve. Excellence is our baseline, not our ceiling.

03

Ownership & Cross-Team Communication

We take ownership of outcomes, not just tasks. We communicate proactively across teams because manufacturing problems don't respect organizational charts — and neither should solutions.

04

Customer Obsession

Our customers trust us with their most critical operations. We obsess over their success, listen deeply to their challenges, and measure our impact by the defects we catch and the value we create.

Global Presence

Local teams, installed inspection systems, and on-the-ground support across 30 cities in 10 countries.

Overview AI team building - fostering innovation and collaboration in manufacturing AI development

Overview AI builds AI vision systems for manufacturing defect detection and quality inspection. Our team has spent years scaling production and quality systems inside some of the most demanding factories in the world, and we apply that experience to everything we ship. Today our cameras run on factory floors across five continents, inspecting parts as varied as automotive connectors and pharmaceutical packaging.

We hire engineers, scientists, and field operators who want their work to reach production quickly. Most of what we build is running on a customer line within weeks, in environments that operate continuously and don't tolerate compromise on quality.

Real customer problems

Every project ties to a customer production line and a measurable outcome. We track success in defects caught, false-reject rates, and scrap reduction, not in research benchmarks.

End-to-end ownership

Engineers own problems from initial customer scoping through factory deployment and ongoing monitoring. No product manager layer between you and the production line.

Startup speed, factory reliability

We ship at startup tempo while holding to factory-grade reliability. Production lines run 24/7 and our cameras run alongside them.

Distributed by design

Our team spans 30 cities across 10 countries. We hire where the talent lives, install where production runs, and work asynchronously across time zones.
